ABOUT OUR GUIDES · STACKED LEGAL
Our Standards
How every guide is held to the same bar: one state, cited to the law, attorney reviewed and updated every year.
The short version. Every STACKED LEGAL guide is written for one state, cited to the law it explains, reviewed by a licensed attorney and updated every year.
1. One state at a time
Each guide covers the law of a single state, or federal law, so you are not sorting through rules that do not apply to you. When a deadline, form or court process is different from state to state, the guide uses its own state’s rule.
2. Cited to the source
Every rule a guide explains points to the statute, court rule or regulation behind it, by section number. You can look up the source yourself or take it with you to a lawyer.
3. Reviewed by a licensed attorney
Before a guide is published, a licensed attorney reviews it for accuracy against the law it cites.
4. Updated every year
Each guide carries its edition years on the cover, such as 2026-2027, and is reviewed every year for changes in the law. Template packs show the date their law was last checked.
5. Written in plain language
Short sentences, everyday words, and legal terms explained the first time they appear.
6. Legal information, not legal advice
STACKED LEGAL, LLC is a publisher, not a law firm. Our guides explain how the law works in general. They do not tell you what to do in your own situation. For advice about your matter, talk to a licensed attorney in your state.
7. Spot something?
If you think something in a guide is out of date, email hello@stackedlegal.com with the guide title and the page. We review every report. Browse the guides.
